New York Wedding Fashion Week 2020/21 Trends

The wedding Fashion Week in New York has ended, and it is time to consider the trends of the autumn-winter 2020/2021. This time, the designers showed romantic images of delicate lace, lavishly embroidered dresses with floral appliqués, delicate feathers, and pearls, fluffy skirts made of mesh and tulle, as well as alternative wedding images and minimalistic dresses using pure colors and the right lines.

Layered skirts

Wedding dresses with puffy skirts from dozens of layers of delicate mesh and tulle, reminiscent of royal ball gowns, will be decorated with fragile figures of brides next autumn. Layered skirts appeared in the collections of many brands such as Zuhair Murad combined rows of meshes of different shapes and sizes, Oscar de la Renta played with color, and Monique Lhuillier turned wedding dresses into real works of art where delicate skirts resembled an airy canvas of fresh flowers.

Volume sleeves

The trend out for volume sleeves has reached the wedding fashion. So, in the Monique Lhuillier collection, air sleeves and a flat shoulder line became the main elements of the images. Meanwhile, Danielle Frankel added clear, fluffy sleeves to the silk slip-dress, and in the Total White collection, they became the main highlight of the brief wedding dress. Even in the new Vera Wang collection, there was a place for sensual and romantic voluminous details.

Designers continue to experiment with a wedding veil, offering all kinds of alternatives. Next summer, capes are gaining popularity. It is a hybrid of veils and wedding coats. Galia Lahav showed snow-white short capes with a masculine shoulder line, Berta Bridal showed translucent models decorated with feathers and pearls, and Marchesa combined the trend for transparency and voluminous men’s shoulders in his collection. Meanwhile, Zuhair Murad and Tadashi Shoji have combined capes and wedding dresses in one piece.

Pure colors and lines

Perfect fit, pure colors, and elegant lines are the basis of classic wedding dresses in the spirit of Meghan Markle and Carolyn Bessett-Kennedy. Minimalistic wedding images will never get bored, and even after 50 years, they will also look stylish on wedding photos. The most exciting options can be found in the collections of Amsale, Carolina Herrera, Total White, Lela Rose, and Anne Barge.

There are bows from year to year, in every designer wedding collection. And the next season autumn-winter 2020/2021, is no exception to the rule. So, Carolina Herrera pulled a magnificent dress around her waist with a silk bow, Galia Lahav proposed a non-banal version of the wedding look with asymmetrical bows on her chest, and Marchesa decorated the dress with a gentle bow that fell from her shoulders.

Lacy patterns

Many brands in the new season built their wedding collections using delicate lace, delicate embroidery, and decorative applications. Luxurious floral patterns adorned the romantic silhouette of the Oscar de la Renta dress, Monique Lhuillier turned to large prints on lush images, and Berta added a wedding veil to the guipure dress, generously decorating it with lace.

The alternative to a wedding dress

Fans of practicality can rejoice in the new season because, in addition to lace images with long trains and magnificent dresses reminiscent of multi-layer cream cakes, designers showed alternative versions of wedding dresses. So, the number of brief trouser ensembles, overalls with capes and snow-white sets, consisting of skirts and a top, has increased significantly. Each of these images will be appropriate not only during the wedding ceremony but also in everyday life.

Ambitious neckline

The fragility of the female figure, graceful collarbones, and a seductive neckline never left anyone indifferent. So, brands in the new season with the help of deep V-shaped cuts show their love for women. The beautiful wedding looks appeared in the Galia Lahav collection, Inbal Dror, and Berta showed clear, generously embroidered images with bold necklines. Marchesa balanced the spectacular neckline with a romantic dress with floral embroidery.

Pearl and feathers

Delicate decor in the form of gentle feathers and pearls of different diameters next season will decorate both elegant formal dresses and impudent mini dresses suitable for the wedding after-party. Look for unusual dresses with this decor in the collections of Zuhair Murad, Amsale, Lela Rose, Vera Wang, and Berta.

Off with long dresses

Mini length with each season is gaining more attention among brides. Many girls choose the short length for the second part of the wedding celebration, as it does not constrict movements and allows you to feel more relaxed. Many brands noticed the wishes of the girls and offered short wedding dresses. Oscar de la Renta showed a fluffy bell dress, Total White a jacket dress, and Viktor & Rolf a lace outfit.
