The day of our wedding is always stressful, even though we’re all doing our best to make it less so. We want everything to be perfect, from our hair and skin to the wedding dress and the cake, but all these obligations and worries clearly leave a mark on us. If you’re dreaming about having perfect skin on your wedding day, it’s important to start with the necessary preparations on time.

For those of you who would like to get wedding-ready skin, we’ve prepared a brief list of useful tips which will help you get glowing, healthy skin:

Start from the inside

Beautiful skin comes from the inside, and you should pay special attention to your diet and drop any bad habits. Cutting down on sugary sweets will not only result in weight loss, but your skin will become brighter too. Plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables will boost your metabolism and help detox your body and your skin. What is more, you should also change your drinks: swap that coffee with cream and sugar for some green tea in the morning, and try to drink at least eight glasses of water per day because staying hydrated is imperative if you want glowing skin.

Getting rid of acne

No matter how healthy your skin may be, you should never leave preparations for the last minute. The more time you have to take care of any skin issues, the better, which is why it’s advised to address a problem as serious as acne months before the wedding takes place. The most effective treatment for acne is hormone therapy, and you should look for the best birth control for acne prone skin. On the other hand, you should never take hormonal contraceptives without prior consultations with a professional.

Three important steps

This is a simple ritual you should do every day: cleanse, apply toner, and moisturize your skin before going to bed. It goes without saying that you should remove your makeup every evening and allow your skin to breathe and to recover. You’ll get rid of the dead skin cells but also of all the chemicals, dust particles and bacteria that settle on your skin during the day. Pay special attention to your T- and Y-zones; the T-zone includes your forehead, nose and chin, while the Y-zone refers to your lower face, neck, and décolletage.

Exfoliating

Unlike cleansing, exfoliating should be done once or twice a week, and you should exfoliate your whole body. By scrubbing with an exfoliant at least once a week, you will ensure that your skin is smoother and that it looks clearer. It’s not a good idea to use the same exfoliant for your face and body as those for the body are usually more abrasive than the ones for the face, so make sure you buy separate products.

Sun protection

When out and about, always remember to wear SPF. Many foundations now carry SPF, but sometimes they aren’t a high enough factor or are spread too thinly to properly protect your skin. Beside applying a sunscreen to other exposed areas of your body, also buy a facial sunscreen which is usually a lighter and less oily formula specifically designed for the face. Reapply regularly and don’t forget commonly forgotten areas such as the ears, the lips and the back of the neck. Check UVA and UVB ratings before you buy.

De-stress

You are probably familiar with the fact that stress causes skin problems such as breakouts or even eczema, but the sad truth is – wedding preparations are always stressful. This means that you’ll likely experience some skin problems prior to the big day, but you can do a few things which will minimize the damage. Try listening to relaxing music in the evening, practice breathing meditation every time you feel overwhelmed, and try to be mindful of your feelings. These simple things will significantly lower the stress levels you’ll face and help you stay calm.

Even though we aren’t al blessed with flawless, glowing skin, it doesn’t mean that we can’t do something to get it. It’s necessary to take good care of your skin if you want it to be healthy for a long time, and the best way to find the adequate products and care is to know your skin type. Try different things until you find something that’s perfect for you and arm yourself with patience. The flawless skin comes to those who know how to take care of it, and with the big day rapidly approaching, these tips will help you look your best.
