Tie The Knot Wedding Show Introduces New Ideas

The Ottawa Conference and Event Centre was the perfect place to host this year’s Tie The Knot Wedding Show. Featuring about 70 vendors in a spacious environment, brides and grooms could engage with vendors easily without feeling crowded or overwhelmed. I look for what’s new in Ottawa for couples. I found 5 new exciting offerings.

My seasoned eye looks for what is new and exciting in Ottawa. Over the 12 years that I’ve attended wedding shows, there have been many changes in style and vendor availability. Local businesses cater to the brides and grooms trying to carve out a niche for themselves.

The Tie The Knot wedding show is small enough that brides and grooms don’t feel overwhelmed with vendor booths. It was spacious with big aisles so that you didn’t feel crowded. There was also a good distribution of the types of vendors so that there wasn’t an over abundance of any one kind of vendor category. So well done on the planning front.

Here are my 5 picks for new interesting vendors at the show.

The Personal Bridesmaid

SarahJ

Sarah J has been around the industry for some time offering her delicious cupcakes. She has refocused her business to offer personalized services to brides. There is so much going on during the day and having an experienced help to put on your dress or deal with going to the bathroom is invaluable as a stress reducer. This kind of service first appeared in New York City about a year ago. It is a highly welcomed addition in Ottawa. I highly recommend her services to any bride. Sarah is also providing a copy of my book From The Heart: Wedding Ceremonies That Work to every new client this year.

Paulette Couture Millinery

TiePaulette

A first time appearance at a wedding show. They specialize in making custom hats and fascinators for your wedding or any special occasion. They can coordinate the look with your dress to complete your style. Of course it will also fit perfectly to your head. Hats and fascinators are a very special addition to your bridal outfit. After 35 years, my wife doesn’t have her dress anymore, but she has her hat.

Meet our Meat

TieMeat

The line ups at this booth were amazing… and so was their food. In the continuing trend of pop-up vendors at your on-location wedding, this mobile barbecue catering is sure to be a hit at any wedding. Two brothers started this business  and promise local, fresh and cooked to perfection providing a fun, energetic and memorable experience. A guaranteed crowd pleaser.

Cellar 82

TieCellar

This little idea of taking an Airstream trailer and converting it into a mobile bar is all the rage. Kasey Boudreau is stunned at the number of requests she is getting from weddings to birthday parties she shows up as your personal bartender all set to go. No need for the bride and groom to shoulder the responsibility of stock the bar and ensuring everyone stays on the safe side of partying.

Dominique Levesque Bridal Salon

TieLevesque

Dominique is a well known establishment for bridal dresses in Ottawa. Her excellent selection and personal attention have made her salon one the best. At the show she was displaying flower girl dresses. These are surprisingly hard to find. With Dominique’s selection it is easy to coordinate the flower girl with the rest of the bridal party.
