This weekend kicks off the winter wedding show season with the Ottawa Wedding Palace Bridal Show at the Shaw Centre. I saw some new sparkle in this show… new talent.
The Wedding Palace Bridal Show has been around since 1997 and is arguably the largest of its kind in the Ottawa area. There are about 200 vendors in all categories. This can be a little overwhelming for the un-prepared bride and groom attending the event.
Certainly there is a good selection of vendors in each category. The photography and reception sections have a large selection.
I was really pleased to see many new vendors making their first time appearance at the show. There were a number of new photographers, venues, decor suppliers, planners, and DJ’s. This is fantastic to see as it keeps the wedding industry vibrant and filled with new ideas.
Here are a few quick observations:
1- Healthy weddings – from exercise plans for the bride and groom, to healthy eating and catering
2- The two most common themes are rustic and urban/romantic
3- Destination weddings are still proving in-demand
4- Bridal dress styles are increasing, but the strapless lace overlay is still the most popular
5- Finally, one of the best attractions to the Wedding Palace Bridal Show is the runway. It is expertly MC’d by the ever enthusiastic Brian Henry from Quality Entertainment. You can get a glimpse of many styles and looks quickly that are full accessorized.
The Ottawa Wedding Palace Bridal Show runs through Sunday January 17 from 11am to 5pm at the Shaw Centre.
