Choosing Wedding Ceremony Songs

Choosing your wedding ceremony music can be a challenge. The selection of music needs to resonate with the overall theme of your wedding. In its simplest form; there are three points in the ceremony where you may need music.

I’ve performed weddings where there has been no music. It just seems like something is missing. Music speaks to our emotions and brings out feelings. And isn’t that what a wedding is all about … our feelings of love. As such, it should reflect how you feel about the event. It is a personal choice as to your selection. Whether it be classical, country, jazz, rock or movie sound tracks – it really needs to be what you want.

The music played at a ceremony should be consistent with the overall theme of your wedding. I’ve just returned from performing my niece’s wedding in Grand Junction, Colorado. She and her beau are really into sci-fi and fantasy. Her ceremony music consisted of music from The Hobbit, Star Wars and Adventures of Zelda. Her son, my grand nephew, was garbed as Frodo the Hobbit and her wedding cake had electronic gaming figures as toppers… so the ceremony music fit the theme.
