The planning meeting with the bride and groom consists of exploring ideas for their wedding ceremony so that it represents their vision. This couple’s wedding was very fluid in what was to happen during the ceremony. But one thing did not change – it was the eight wonderful angels at my feet.
This was a second marriage for both the bride and the groom. She is previously divorced and he is a widower. When we were planning their wedding, many ideas flowed. When they left me, they were considering a Unity Sand Ceremony and having their thirteen year old Golden Retriever as the ring bearer. When I arrived at the site, both of these ideas had been dropped.
The one thing that did not get dropped was having eight eight year old flower girls in the bridal party. The bride had an after-school day care and all the girls wanted to be in the wedding. They were so thrilled to be part of the event.
As they walked down the aisle, they arranged themselves and sat on the steps around me. They were all outfitted in white dresses with flowered circlets and white gloves. Their big eyes all looked at the stunning bride like she was a princess from a fairy tale.
They were all so well behaved, quiet and attentive that I really felt like I had angels at my feet. With angels like that, the bride and groom were surely blessed.
